Manners

Is it too much to ask to reinstate manners as mandatory in preschool classes. I know that etiquette is old school but it is time we revisit it. I am a freedom loving girl and I never want to impose too many rules on our behavior in the fear of squelching our creativity. Yet there is a time and place when we do have to rein it in and allow for others to shine and to make room for grace. This is what I call the divine moments "grace". Like that scene in the movie American Beauty where the plastic bag is caught in the wind and it twirls around in an very artistic expression of that which animates us, yet we cannot describe it or see it. This weekend so many crazy behaviors were on display and it pains me because I know if we all were to sit down and take a deep breath as we pondered our actions. We would have to acknowledge that we sometimes misbehave and it's not cool. I am right there with everyone. That we are a lawless group (modern people) when it comes to manners and etiquette. It isn't fashionable to send thanks yous in so many circles and yet it feels so nice to get the acknowledgment. I had a moment this weekend where something happened and I am still smarting about my over site. It wasn't a manners things per se' but it was something I over looked and it could in fact hurt my bigger plans. UGH nothing we can do. I just hope in the future and hell now we instill some class and grace into our babies and ourselves. There is no need to act out in public. There is no need to be rude and selfish and hurtful. There is no need to spaz or spit or yell and scream at anyone other then a doctor of psychiatry or alone with a pair of Bataka's smashing out ones anger in a controlled environment. I am not saying hold it in I am just gently suggesting to do it in a private safe space. We who are public figures owe our fans that much. I am judging and it may be off. As a community we are under a lot if stress these days...with Obama being attacked and everyone looking to point fingers at the whole community as being unworthy. So these days our behavior needs to be sharp and productive and a good reflection on who and what we are. We are brilliant and worthy of everything grand so lets act like it. Shall we.

With love and concern...

the asian americans don't produce these spectacles. mostly the blacks, and southern whites.

Are you picking on us? Is this a racist statement or an observation?

it is just an observation.

I understand Mark Twain often compared chinese immigrants favorably against Irish immigrants in the western states. those were more simple times.

The "American Beauty" scene was a bright light of basic honesty, like shot by luck on an old 8 mil in the stoned '60s when life was understandable and progressively futuristic. Our eyes were headlights on moonless nights.
We respected our realm and our fellow man(woman/man.)...I remember when I heard the word 'mankind', I thought of women first! Side-tracking. I guess we're getting old when we say things like, "Kids Nowdays!?"...Well, I see a difference. Then they wanted truth...now they want stuff. FUG 'EM!!! Now, when people think of grace they think of Nancy, the biggest cruel vomit brain in the universe!!!

I don't like it because I don't THINK i know this Ryanaldo. But there was one such with a different spelling on the other fork of the river of Rd that proved himself to be a very sly and astute racist to me on a personal level. I get a huge racist Uncle Tom dong sucking vibe from "Mark Twain"...good proud southern white boy at heart. And here in the middlelands now, it's drunk and methed-up Whites and Mexicans that stir up all the ruckus... the blacks quietly blend in or kill their own in drive-bys.

The home invasions seem to happen weekly...usually black on black, sometimes mixed. Shootings and robberies in parking lots of apartments and driveways to homes by thugs waiting ....this is all too depressing...I cleanse my mind, body and soul in the name of life and love. Namaste...arf!

If it is GLT the same guy as before I guess we'll have to figure out what to do with it. Hey Ryanaldo your writing has a tinge of racism to say the least and if it is you again. I remember who GLT is referencing here...what's up? If not? I dont get your comments. Not feeling them.

I am not GLT or anyone else.

I notice younger U.S. whites are generally more belligerent or less intelligent than Canadian whites also.

Mark Twain was a great opponent of the racism of his day. Innocents Abroad. On the Damned Human Race.

I'm not racist. I'm not even ideologically prejudiced. I'm just experienced and sometimes indelicate.

This is the only username i've posted here under.

I voted for Barack Obama. I am a great fan of Sydney Poitier and Bill Cosby.

Living in Cleveland, I see that the biggest obstacle facing the black neighborhoods here are blacks in the neighborhood. They defend their lowlifes against any suggestion of criticism from "whites". They enable their lowlifes. When a child is shot by knuckleheads, they do not protest outside the houses where the knuckleheads hang out: they protest outside the police station and city hall. it isn't a pretty picture. the failure rates are high, in most of the ways that matter.

I don't set out to identify "blacks" as a group, or even a group here. but they identify themselves as a group, and there are leaders or spokesmen who identify this group they are representing. so it is acceptable to me to make general statements or address the "group" directly. I am not painting with a broad brush, or absolutely. I speak just as callously toward republicans, democrats, libertarians, indiana meth-heads, mountain whites, blue bloods, deep south crackers, neocons.
